<h1>India Revises Excise Duty Rates for Unmanufactured and Chewing Tobacco; New Rates Effective March 1, 2015</h1> The Government of India has issued an amendment to Notification No. 16/2010-Central Excise, revising the duty rates for unmanufactured and chewing tobacco. The changes specify new rates based on the retail sale price per pouch and the maximum packing speed of machines. Table-1 and Table-2 outline the revised rates for chewing tobacco and jarda scented tobacco, respectively, with specific rates for pouches with and without lime tubes. The amendment also updates the duty ratios for different types of tobacco under various sections of the Finance Act. This notification is effective from March 1, 2015.
