<h1>Companies Act 2013: 'Slum Area Development' Added to Schedule VII for CSR Activities</h1> The Central Government has amended Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013, by adding 'slum area development' as item (xi). This amendment defines a 'slum area' as any area declared by the Central or State Government or other competent authority under existing laws. The amendment will take effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette. Schedule VII initially came into force on April 1, 2014, and was previously amended on February 27, 2014, and March 31, 2014.
