<h1>India Amends Service Rules: Redefines 'Intermediary' and Updates Transport Hiring and Repair Service Provisions</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, issued Notification No. 14/2014 to amend the Place of Provision of Services Rules, 2012. Effective from October 1, 2014, these amendments redefine 'intermediary' as a broker or agent facilitating services or goods between parties, excluding those providing the main service or goods themselves. Additionally, services related to goods temporarily imported for repair and exported post-repair are exempt from certain provisions. Furthermore, the amendment specifies that hiring services for all means of transport, except aircraft and yachts, are covered for periods up to one month.
