<h1>India Amends Customs Rules: New Variance Limits for Duty-Free Re-Import of Cut and Polished Diamonds</h1> The Government of India has amended Notification No. 9/2012-Customs regarding the duty-free re-import of cut and polished diamonds. The amendment, issued under Notification No. 16/2014-Customs, revises condition (v) to allow a variance of up to +/-0.05 mm in diameter for round diamonds, +/-0.07 mm in length and breadth for other shapes, and a variance not exceeding +/-1 cent in weight. This amendment is enacted under the Customs Act, 1962, and is deemed necessary in the public interest. The changes are effective as of July 11, 2014.
