India Amends Customs Notification: 5% Duty on Hilsa Fish Imports from Myanmar, Exemption Changes in S. No. 31A
The Indian government has issued Notification No. 37/2013-Customs, amending Notification No. 46/2011-Customs to include Hilsa Fish (HS 03038910) imported from Myanmar under the India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement. This amendment, effective from July 22, 2013, specifies that the exemption in S. No. 31A will not apply to goods imported from countries listed in Appendix I, except Myanmar. The notification sets a 5% customs duty rate for frozen Hilsa Fish. This change is made under the powers conferred by the Customs Act, 1962, and is deemed necessary in the public interest.
