of <h1>Central Government Amends CENVAT Credit Rules, 2004: Rule 16 Renumbered, New Interpretation Guidelines Introduced.</h1> The Central Government has amended the CENVAT Credit Rules, 2004, under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944 and the Finance Act, 1994. These amendments, effective from their publication date in the Official Gazette, involve renumbering Rule 16 as sub-rule (1) and introducing a new sub-rule (2). This new sub-rule clarifies that any references to the CENVAT Credit Rules, 2002 or the Service Tax Credit Rules, 2002 in various official documents should now be interpreted as references to the CENVAT Credit Rules, 2004.
