of <h1>India Amends Excise Notification to Limit Exemption on Branded Packing Materials to 90 Lakhs for 2008-09.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has amended Notification No. 8/2003-Central Excise to extend the exemption benefits to branded packing materials, including printed cartons, metal containers, HDPE woven sacks, adhesive tapes, stickers, PP caps, crown corks, and metal labels. This amendment, effective from September 1, 2008, restricts the exemption for these goods to a maximum of ninety lakhs rupees for the remainder of the financial year 2008-09. This change is made under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, in the interest of public welfare.
