Jalna, Sep 3 (PTI) The role of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) goes beyond selling industrial plots and involves developing infrastructure, providing services and creating a conducive environment for industries, its Chief Executive Officer Dipendra Singh Kushwah said here on Thursday.

He was speaking at 'Industrial Summit 2026' organised by Jalna First and the district administration, which was attended 300 industrialists and entrepreneurs from across the country.

The MIDC's focus was on facilitating industrial development and maintaining strong relations between the government and industry, he said, adding it did not discriminate between small and large industries and was working to promote development across sectors.

"MIDC has 12 policies aimed at supporting industries, but only a limited number of entrepreneurs were taking advantage of them. Wider utilisation of these schemes could provide a significant boost to industrial growth," Kushwah said.

He said states were competing to attract investments and Maharashtra was ahead in the race by offering investors better infrastructure, facilities and a favourable business environment.

Speaking at the summit, JNPT Authority Chairman Gaurav Dayal said the dry port at Jalna had created a strategic link with national and international trade networks.

The facility offered major opportunities for industrialists and agro-based farmers in the region to expand their import and export businesses, Dayal said.

Mahyco Chairman Rajendra Barwale appreciated Jalna First for organising the summit and highlighted the contribution of the seed industry to India's agricultural development and food security.

India once depended on imports of food grains, but the country was now self-sufficient and had the capacity to export, Barwale said. PTI COR BNM
