Central bank draft circular mandates full transaction cost disclosure on retail forex cash, tom, spot contracts and remittances
The central bank has issued a draft circular proposing mandatory disclosure of transaction costs in foreign exchange cash, tom, and spot contracts offered to retail users by Authorised Dealers. Building on a January 2024 requirement to disclose mid-market, bid, and ask prices for foreign exchange and foreign currency interest rate derivative contracts, the proposal extends transparency obligations to include remittance fees, exchange rates, and currency conversion charges. Stakeholders, including banks and market participants, are invited to submit comments by January 9, 2026, either by post to the regulator's Financial Markets Regulation Department or via email.
