ED gets three days to answer jailed journalist's money laundering bail plea, defence rejoinder before Dec 15
The Supreme Court directed the Enforcement Directorate to file its response within three days to the bail plea of a jailed journalist accused in a money laundering case arising from alleged financial fraud. The bench also permitted the defence to file a rejoinder within two days thereafter and listed the matter for further hearing on December 15. The journalist faces six cases, including allegations of extortion, GST fraud, and income tax evasion, based on multiple FIRs for fraud, criminal misappropriation, breach of trust, cheating, and causing wrongful loss. The Gujarat High Court had earlier denied bail, holding that release could prejudice the prosecution.
