Delhi government to verify 600,000 welfare beneficiaries annually using biometrics, home visits, and issuing digital ID
The Delhi government will conduct annual verification of roughly 600,000 social-welfare beneficiaries to confirm eligibility and remove ineligible or deceased recipients. The exercise, run through CSC e-Governance Services (a government SPV), will use biometric authentication, life certificates, digitised photos, Aadhaar details, mobile numbers and addresses, with home visits where needed. A helpline and call centre will support the process; verified beneficiaries will receive a soft-copy digital identity card. The programme is government-funded, charging Rs 70 per CSC verification and Rs 100 for home verification, at an estimated annual cost of Rs 5.57 crore.
