<h1>Government approves Rs 69,725 crore plan to revive domestic shipbuilding with long-term finance and reforms</h1> The government approved a Rs 69,725 crore package to revitalise the domestic shipbuilding and maritime sector through a four-pillar strategy combining capacity building, long-term finance, greenfield/brownfield yard development, skills/technology enhancement, and legal, taxation and policy reforms. Key measures include extension of the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme to March 31, 2036 with a Rs 24,736 crore corpus (including a Rs 4,001 crore shipbreaking credit), creation of a National Shipbuilding Mission to coordinate implementation, establishment of a Rs 25,000 crore Maritime Development Fund for long-term financing, and a Rs 19,989 crore Shipbuilding Development Scheme.
