ITR filing deadline remains unchanged; taxpayers must use official channels and report portal issues to support
The Income Tax Department affirmed that the ITR filing deadline for AY 2025-26 remains September 15 and dismissed social media claims of a later extension. The department stated the e-filing portal and AIS/TIS are functioning, advised users to clear browser cache or change browsers, and asked users experiencing technical problems to provide PAN, mobile number and public IP to designated support e-mail addresses. A 24x7 helpdesk offers calls, live chat, WebEx and social media support. The department noted the prior administrative extension to September 15 was due to structural revisions to ITR forms and related system updates.
