Exporters get 'Carbon Cell' platform to help MSME iron and steel firms meet CBAM reporting rules (EU Regulation)
A government export promotion council, together with a private CBAM compliance firm, launched a 'Carbon Cell' platform to help exporters-particularly MSMEs in iron and steel-meet EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) reporting and compliance requirements. The initiative offers tools, training and reporting support ahead of CBAM's full implementation in 2026 after a 2023-2025 transitional phase. Noncompliance may bar shipments to the EU and trigger a carbon charge on embedded emissions that could raise landing costs. The program aims to reduce regulatory disruption to trade and facilitate alignment with evolving EU carbon-pricing rules.
