<h1>Finance Minister Announces Duty Exemptions on Steam Coal, Gas, Uranium, and Road Construction Equipment Until March 2014.</h1> The Finance Minister announced a full exemption from basic customs duty on steam coal, natural gas, liquefied natural gas, uranium concentrate, and sintered uranium dioxide, effective until March 31, 2014. Additionally, a concessional countervailing duty of 1% will apply to steam coal. The exemption extends to specified equipment for road construction imported by contractors for projects under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, NHAI, State Governments, and Metropolitan Development Authorities. Tunnel boring machines and their parts are also included, with imports allowed duty-free without end-use conditions.
