New e-Dispute Resolution Scheme 2022: Streamlining Tax Dispute Resolution for Eligible Taxpayers Across 18 Regions.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has introduced the e-Dispute Resolution Scheme (e-DRS) 2022 to reduce litigation and assist eligible taxpayers. Under this scheme, taxpayers can electronically file for dispute resolution with Dispute Resolution Committees (DRCs) in 18 jurisdictional regions, provided certain conditions are met. The application must be submitted within one month of receiving the specified order, or by September 30, 2024, if an appeal is pending. The DRCs can modify variations in orders and potentially reduce penalties. The scheme applies to orders with variations not exceeding Rs. 10 lakh and income not exceeding Rs. 50 lakh, excluding certain cases.
