<h1>CGST Mumbai South arrests co-conspirator in Rs. 11.07 crore fake ITC claim with bogus invoices worth Rs. 62.90 crore.</h1> The CGST Commissionerate Mumbai South has arrested a co-conspirator involved in a fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) claim of Rs. 11.07 crore linked to M/s New Laxmilal Co. The scheme involved bogus invoices totaling Rs. 62.90 crore without actual goods movement. This arrest is part of an anti-evasion initiative targeting tax evaders. The accused admitted to supplying fake invoices through a network of seven non-existent entities and was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. Earlier, the proprietor of M/s New Laxmilal Co. was arrested for similar offenses. The CGST department has detected tax evasion of approximately Rs. 876 crore, recovering Rs. 14.4 crore, and arrested eight individuals in recent months.
