CBIC Launches Liberalised AEO Package for MSMEs: Easier Compliance, Faster Customs Clearance, and Global Supply Chain Boost.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has launched the Liberalised MSME Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Package to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) during the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative aims to attract MSMEs to become AEOs by relaxing compliance criteria, such as requiring only 10 Customs clearance documents annually and a clean compliance record over two years. The scheme offers expedited Customs clearance, reduced Bank Guarantee requirements, and other benefits like Direct Port Delivery and Entry, priority for refunds, and deferred Customs duty payments. The package seeks to enhance MSMEs' participation in the global supply chain.
