<h1>Central Government's Public Debt Rises Sharply; Dated Securities Issuance Climbs to Rs. 4.2 Lakh Crore, Yield Decreases Slightly.</h1> The quarterly report on public debt management for July to September 2020 reveals that the Central Government issued dated securities amounting to Rs. 4,20,000 crore, a significant increase from the previous year's Rs. 1,72,160 crore. The average yield of these securities decreased slightly to 5.80%, while their average maturity increased to 14.92 years. No Cash Management Bills were issued, and the Reserve Bank conducted five special operations involving government securities. Total government liabilities rose to Rs. 107,04,294 crore, with public debt comprising 91.1% of this total. Commercial banks held 38.6% of the securities, and insurance companies held 25.3%. Yields on government securities increased due to fiscal concerns and geopolitical tensions.
