Indian Government Disburses Rs. 6,000 Crore to 16 States, 3 UTs for GST Compensation Shortfall via Special Borrowing Window.
The Central Government of India has disbursed Rs. 6,000 crore as the second installment to 16 states and 3 Union Territories to address the GST compensation shortfall through the Special Borrowing Window. This initiative, managed by the Ministry of Finance, has facilitated loans totaling Rs. 12,000 crore so far. The funds are provided at a weighted average yield of 4.42%, which is advantageous compared to the states' and UTs' borrowing costs. The loans are distributed on a back-to-back basis to the participating regions, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, and others, as part of Option I under the Special Window arrangement.
