Income Tax Department Targets Mid-September for Completion of Faceless e-Assessments to Enhance Transparency and Reduce Corruption.
The Income Tax Department aims to complete all Faceless e-Assessments by mid-September, with 3,130 tax personnel, including 600 IT officers, involved in the process. Out of 58,319 cases selected, 8,700 have been resolved. Announced in 2019, the scheme enhances transparency by eliminating physical interactions between officers and taxpayers. The National e-Assessment Centre in Delhi manages the process, issuing notices and allocating cases anonymously. Covering eight major cities, the system includes assessments for individuals, businesses, MSMEs, and large companies. This approach aims to reduce harassment and corruption by ensuring anonymity and dynamic jurisdiction.
