Export Restrictions Remain on Key COVID-19 Testing Kits; Other Items Freely Exportable with Customs Undertaking.
The government has decided to maintain export restrictions on specific diagnostic kits, reagents, and instruments crucial for COVID-19 testing, such as swabs, silicon columns, and magnetic stands. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) announced that other diagnostic items are freely exportable, provided exporters submit an undertaking to customs at export time. This update amends the April 4 restrictions, which initially applied to all diagnostic kits and reagents. Restricted items still include VTM kits, RNA extraction kits, RT-PCR kits, and specific COVID-19 testing components. Exporters of these items require a DGFT license for international shipments.
