<h1>MCA Deactivates Over 1.9 Million Director IDs for KYC Non-Compliance; No Definition for Ghost Directors in Companies Act.</h1> The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) deactivated 1,940,313 Director Identification Numbers (DINs) in the MCA21 Database due to non-compliance with Know Your Client (KYC) requirements as of November 28, 2019. This information was disclosed by the Minister of State for Finance Corporate Affairs in a Rajya Sabha session. The MCA21 Database lacks employment details of directors/DIN holders. The Minister clarified that terms like Ghost Directors and Shell Companies are not defined in the Companies Act, 2013. In the fiscal years 2017-18 and 2018-19, 338,963 companies were struck off, and 424,454 directors were disqualified for non-compliance with statutory filing requirements.
