Hindustan Unilever reports GST implementation hasn't hurt demand; price cuts on detergents and soaps aim to boost sales.
FMCG major Hindustan Unilever (HUL) reported that the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has not adversely affected consumer demand. The company has reduced prices on some detergents and soaps, passing GST benefits to consumers, which is expected to boost sales. While most trade channels are normalizing, some wholesale traders in central India remain hesitant. HUL's sales were impacted by 200 basis points due to reduced purchases by the canteen store department. The company believes that wholesale channels will eventually adapt to the GST system and resume normal operations.
