Central Government has amended the SEZ rules vide notification no. G.S.R. 1744(E), DATED 12-10-2007.

Highlights of the Amendments:

- Maximum limit for multi product SEZ has been fixed 5000 hectares.

- At least 50 of the area shall be earmarked for developing the processing area.

-  Plant and Machinery used previously in DTA shall be allowed.

SEZ area limits revised and processing area mandate introduced, permitting reuse of previously installed domestic plant and machinery. Amendment revises SEZ regulatory parameters by fixing a maximum land ceiling for multi product zones, prescribing a mandated portion of the zone as a processing area, and permitting reuse of plant and machinery previously used in the Domestic Tariff Area, thereby guiding planning, approvals, and asset relocation into SEZ projects.
