Income from Displaying Uncut Diamonds in Special Notified Zones Exempt from Taxation Since April 1, 2015, per Finance Bill 2016.
Income generated from merely displaying uncut diamonds in a Special Notified Zone, without sorting or sale, will not be subject to taxation under the Income-tax Act, 1961 for activities conducted on or after April 1, 2015. This decision will be formalized through a legislative amendment in the Finance Bill 2016. The Special Notified Zone was established in the Bharat Diamond Bourse to encourage global diamond mining companies' participation. The government considered the tax implications of income from such display activities before reaching this decision.
