of <h1>CCI Fines Four Public Insurance Firms Rs. 671 Crores for Bid Rigging in Kerala's Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana Scheme.</h1> The Competition Commission of India (CCI) imposed penalties totaling Rs. 671.05 crores on four public sector insurance companies for bid rigging. The companies involved manipulated the bidding process for the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana insurance scheme in Kerala for 2010-13. The CCI acted on anonymous information, finding the companies in violation of anti-competitive agreement provisions under the Competition Act, 2002. Penalties were levied as follows: National Insurance Co. Ltd. Rs. 162.80 crores, New India Assurance Co. Ltd. Rs. 251.07 crores, Oriental Insurance Co. Ltd. Rs. 100.56 crores, and United India Insurance Co. Ltd. Rs. 156.62 crores. The case highlighted bid rigging in public procurement for social welfare.
