The number of companies whose names have been struck-off from the register under Section 560 of the Companies Act, 1956, during each of the last three financial years and the current year (up to 08.03.2015), State/UT-wise, is given in Annex-1. The figures do not suggest an increasing trend in the number of defunct companies in the country.
The number of companies that availed the Fast Track Exit Mode for striking their names off the register during the said period, State/UT-wise, is given in Annex-2.
This was stated by Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Corporate Affairs in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.

The release discloses State/UT-wise counts of companies removed from the register under statutory strike-off procedures and those removed via the Fast Track Exit mechanism, for the last three financial years and current year (up to 08.03.2015), sourced from the MCA21 repository, and notes that aggregate figures do not indicate a national increasing trend in defunct companies. of Press 'Enter' after typing page number.
