The term Supervisor denotes an individual with authority, in the employer's interest, to make or effectively recommend substantive employment decisions-hiring, transfer, suspension, layoff, recall, promotion, discharge, assignment, reward, or discipline-or to direct employees or adjust grievances, where such authority is not merely routine or clerical but requires the exercise of independent judgment.
