Beneficial owner concept: property held in another's name remains benami when the real owner benefits despite anonymity. Beneficial owner is the person for whose benefit property is held by a benamidar, whether or not the beneficial owner's identity is known. Property is benami where the benamidar is only a nominal holder-having taken money, placed signatures, or lacking knowledge of the real owner-because the substantive benefit belongs to another person.
