Consumers Can Address Profiteering Issues Under CGST Act; Process Involves State and National Committees for Resolution
The complaint redressal mechanism under the CGST and SGST Acts allows consumers to address profiteering issues. Aggrieved individuals can file applications with the Standing Committee on Anti-profiteering or the State Level Screening Committee if the issue is local. The State Committee reviews and forwards cases with prima facie evidence to the national Standing Committee. If profiteering is suspected, the matter is referred to the Director General of Anti-Profiteering for investigation. The findings are then reported to the National Anti-Profiteering Authority, which is empowered to take necessary actions under the CGST Act, 2017.
