of <h1>Goods by Export Oriented Units in India face excise duty equivalent to customs duty under Section 3(1) of Central Excise Act.</h1> Under the Central Excise Act, 1944, goods manufactured by Export Oriented Units (EOUs) and sold within India are subject to excise duty equivalent to the customs duty on similar imported goods, as per Section 3(1). This duty is calculated as if the goods were imported, but it is collected as a central excise duty. Similarly, services provided by Service Sector EOUs are subject to service tax under the Finance Act, 1994.
