Sector-specific export oriented unit schemes allow software and electronic hardware exports with special administrative control and duty relief. Sector-specific Export Oriented Unit schemes STP and EHTP permit software development, IT enabled services and electronic hardware manufacture for export under administration of the Department of Information Technology through the Director, STPI. STP units may be stand alone or located in approved complexes; private STP complexes require inter ministerial approval. The schemes allow duty free import of telemetric infrastructure for central export transmission facilities (shareable by STP and certain DTA units), permit DTA sales of software via data links subject to STPI valuation certification, accept on site foreign consultancy receipts as exports, and set conditions for training and sharing of specified goods.
