EOUs previously required premises approval as a Customs bonded warehouse and operated under customs bond with officers' cost recovery; certain sectors received administrative exemptions with safeguards. Thereafter EOUs were de licensed as warehouses and released from warehousing provisions, but remain required to execute a multipurpose bond with surety/security with jurisdictional Customs and Central Excise officers.
