Faceless assessment: ports of import retain local responsibility for examinations and specified procedural customs requests.

Ports of import retain operational responsibility for bills of entry not marked to faceless assessment and for cases referred back by the Faceless Assessment Group. The local Port Assessment Group processes such bills and handles physical examination and inspection of goods. Designated proper officers at the port deal with procedural requests including waiver of late-filing fees and requests or permissions under provisions of the Customs Act, in line with the Customs Automated System and applicable instructions.
