Consolidation now authorises shipping lines to bring sealed LCL export containers from ICDs/CFSs to gateway ports for de-sealing and destination-wise re-stuffing with cargo from multiple ICDs/CFSs, and to re-work LCL import cargo at gateway ports for consolidation into containers bound for specific ICDs/CFSs. Customs clearance formalities for consignments cleared at ICDs/CFSs remain completed inland, and re-working at gateway ports is conducted under supervision of domestic agencies to reduce reliance on foreign hubs and improve freight efficiency.
