Paint Company Queries Excise Duty on Rebranded Products; Seeks Trading Registration and Compliance with Excise Rules. A paint manufacturing company seeks advice on selling products purchased from outside suppliers under their brand name while also continuing their own production. They inquire if they can charge customers the excise duty levied by suppliers and whether this complies with excise rules. A respondent advises issuing an excise invoice to pass on duties to customers. Another suggests obtaining a Trading Registration Certificate and maintaining separate records for trading activities. It's recommended to allocate a specific area for trading and consult the jurisdictional Central Excise Department for further guidance. (AI Summary)

You may pass on such duties to you customer  by issuing your excise invoice.

You may have to get the Trading Regisration Certificate.  Please also discuss it with your jurisdictional Central Excise Department or seek an advance ruling, if required?

You are doing two activities 1) Manufacturing 2) Trading in same premises.  Now first you have to take two actions as First allocate specific area along with with separate entrance  for trading activity, apply for Excise Registration for trading activity.  You have to maintain separate records for trading activity and operate as per trading procedures.

You can continue existing procedure in respect of manufacturing activity
