Service Tax

Service tax exemption for STPI registered suppliers; unregistered exporters may rely on export of services treatment under POPs.
Registration under the STPI scheme exempts the unit from service tax for the scheme's concessionary period (noted illustratively as ten years). If not STPI registered, the supplier's online market research to a foreign recipient may qualify as an export of services under the Point of Provision Rules (POPs) and be treated accordingly instead of attracting domestic service tax. (AI Summary)

Sir,  my company  given online data market research services  to a USA based company & registered with STPI,on or before 01.07.12, that type of company exempt from service tax, that kind of company covered under new service tax  Act and libale of service tax .

1.

There is no levy of service tax  if a unit is registered under the STPI scheme.  There must be a time period say for 10 years, service tax would be exempted under this scheme.

Further, your activities are falling under export of services under POPs, in the event if you were not registered under STPI scheme.
