Excise return classification: confirm whether mid-quarter entrants must file ER-3 or may switch to ER-1 with departmental written clarification.
The question is whether a registrant entering excise mid-quarter must file the next-period return on the quarterly form ER-3 or may file the monthly form ER-1; the advised course is to obtain written clarification from the excise department to confirm which return form is required and to avoid subsequent disputes. (AI Summary)

Respected Sir,

One of may clients has come in excise in the month of Aug-12 as he was taking the benefit of  notification, no. 8/2003 now as he has come in the mid-quarter of the second quarter of f.y.2012-13 he has to file ER-3 in the month of october-12 but from oct-12 he can file ER-1  or he will be liable to file e ER-3 .
