Search & Seizure by IT Dept. How IT Returns to be filed?

SHANTI NARAIN

Hello,

After raid by Income Tax Department, it shall ask for Income Tax Returns to be filed for all preceeding 6 Assessment Year for reassessing the same.

We need to know that:

1. Should we file fresh returns or we can give them photo copies of our earlier returns?

2. If we are required to file fresh returns then can we file these returns online?

3. Can we change any particulars in fresh return from our earlier return filed?

4. How much time to file these returns may be given by the department?

Individuals Must File Fresh Tax Returns for Past Six Years After IT Raid Under Section 153A, Notify Officer After an Income Tax Department raid, individuals must file fresh income tax returns for the preceding six assessment years. These returns should be submitted along with photocopies of previously filed returns. Changes to the particulars in the fresh returns are permissible if they are based on materials found during the search, as these will be investigated. Returns can be filed online, but the assessing officer must be informed. Typically, the department allows 30 days to file these returns after issuing a notice under section 153A, although other factors may influence this timeframe. (AI Summary)
