Dear Expert

Please advice if any one trade textiles item i.e non taxable item in Jammu & kashmir and interstate , sale tax registration mandatory or not , if yes please advice procedure with theresold limit.

Firm based on jammu & kashmir

VAT exemption for Jammu & Kashmir units requires invoice price adjustment and confirmation of registration and procedures. VAT treatment for textile traders in Jammu & Kashmir provides a state exemption for units established within the State while requiring dealers to make an equivalent price adjustment on invoices to neutralise VAT impact; traders must follow the State VAT rules on registration and obtain departmental clarification through the prescribed query process for thresholds and procedural details. Jammu & Kashmir provides VAT Exemption to the units which are established in the StAate.  VAT is chargeable but on the invoices equivalent price adjustment to the extent of VAT is being provided by the Dealers to nullify to impact of VAT (SRO 90).

For further clarifications, please go through  the JKVAT Act read with JKVAT Rules.  You can also get the clarification from JKVAT Department under DDQ after paying the nominal fees.
