IF BCD paid thru licence

Mridul Sethi

Sir,

If we pay BCD thru licence, then AED is to be calculated on landed cost or on (landed cost + custom duty) figure. Actually we are receiving BOE ot this case with the calculation of AED on landed cost, but my query is that in this way are we not paying less amount to the govt.

Regards,

Mridul Sethi

Clarification on Additional Excise Duty Calculation: AED is exempted if Basic Customs Duty is paid through a license. A discussion in a forum addresses the calculation of Additional Excise Duty (AED) when Basic Customs Duty (BCD) is paid through a license. The original query questions whether AED should be calculated on the landed cost or on the sum of landed cost and customs duty. Respondents clarify that when BCD is paid through a license, customs duty is exempted, and consequently, AED should be calculated on the landed cost plus customs duty. However, since the duty is exempted, the AED is also exempted, with the license serving as a record of the exemption. (AI Summary)
