applicability of TDS

Guest

sir,

we have purchased a RICOH made xerox machine for office purpose at a cost of Rs3,67,000.00.from a DGS&D dealer .

i would like to know whether it attracts TDS,if so under what rule.

chakravarthy

TDS applicability: purchases of goods, including capital equipment, do not require withholding under income tax rules. Purchase of goods, including capital equipment such as a photocopier, does not attract TDS provisions and no tax is to be deducted at source on payment for movable goods; this observation is confined to withholding obligations and does not consider other tax consequences. Dear Mr Chakravarthy

Purchases of goods, either capital or otherwise, do not come under the TDS Provisions.  You may purchase the item without making any TDS.
