SERVICE TAX ON SUPPLY OF TEACHERS

Arun Gupta

Hi We have won a tender where we have to supply teachers to the department of education along with 2% staff to monitor these teachers and books and training portal for students. I wanted to know if I have to charge Service Tax from the  department.

Education Department's Teacher Supply Contracts Subject to Service Tax Under 'Manpower Recruitment or Supply Agency's Services' A user inquired about the applicability of service tax on a contract to supply teachers and related services to the department of education. Two respondents advised that the service should be classified under 'Manpower Recruitment or Supply Agency's Services,' which is subject to service tax. Both responses indicated that the service provider should charge service tax for these services. (AI Summary)
