Exciseable materials

sathish krishnan

I have to clarify, how  to identify the material is exciseable or non-exciseable?, what are the ways to identify it? , what is the difference between CP Excise  by contract packers and MODVAT by branches both are excise entries only know then why it differs please advice me clear about it?

Excisability criteria: query on identifying excisable materials and distinction between contract packing excise and MODVAT directed to guidance. Query seeks methods to determine whether materials are subject to excise and to distinguish excise treatment for contract packers from MODVAT by branches; the sole reply refers the enquirer to consult the central excise authority's official website for authoritative procedural guidance.
