Declared goods classification: whether ductile iron pipes fall under iron and steel heads affects VAT/CST treatment.
Whether ductile iron pipes constitute declared goods for VAT/CST hinges on whether they are expressly listed among iron and steel items or fall within the descriptive scope of an existing head for iron products; if not named, technical specifications and product characteristics must be examined to determine appropriate classification under the declared goods list. (AI Summary)

Section 14 of CST Act, 1956 specifies the list of declared goods. There are many items of Iron and Steel specified therein. You may visit this section and check whether your item is covered within the scope of this section or not.

If you know the provisions and item which is to be classified, what is the point of this issue?

Is there any technical difficulty which prevents you to take a decision? If yes, unless I know that difficulty or detail, any view expressed by me would be erroneous.

Thank you for your early response.

The list does not contain specifically Ductile Iron pipes. Is it classifiable under any other head of Iron mentioned in the list? If you have the knowledge of this please help.
