Automatic Service Tax Exemption for Services Below 9 Lakhs in 2010-11; No Formal Filing Required, Simple Letter Suggested. A user inquired about availing a service tax exemption for the fiscal year 2011-12, as their services were below 9 lakhs in 2010-11. They asked whether the exemption is automatic or requires filing information with the service tax department, and if so, the deadline for submission. The response clarified that no formal intimation or declaration is required for the exemption, as it is automatic. However, it was suggested to inform the department through a simple letter. The exemption is not applicable if service tax was paid even once during the current fiscal year. (AI Summary)
