Eligibility for Excise Exemption: Expansion of Haridwar Unit with New Machinery After March 31, 2011 A user inquired about the eligibility for excise exemption for a unit located in Haridwar, which is partially constructed and plans to install approximately 45 new machines after March 31, 2011. The user seeks guidance on whether the excise exemption can still be availed after this expansion. The response provided suggests that if the land where construction was not done is considered part of the same factory as before the cutoff date, the exemption for production with the new machinery can be availed.
