Company Faces Excise Duty Demand for Late Export Document Submission; Possible Delay Condonation Could Waive Fees. A company exported materials under bond but failed to submit the export documents to the excise authority within the required six-month period. The company is now facing a demand for excise duty and interest. A respondent advised that typically, failure to submit Proof of Export (PoE) within the stipulated time requires payment of duty and interest. However, if the PoE is now available, the company should submit it with a request to condone the delay. If the authority accepts the request, the duty and interest may not be payable. Future cases may require seeking an extension for PoE submission. (AI Summary)
