Laundry Services Not Taxable Under Service Tax Act; Only Dry Cleaning Is, Per Section 65(105)(zt) A discussion on whether laundry services are taxable under the Service Tax Act. A business owner inquires if their laundry services, which include ironing but not dry cleaning, are taxable, given their annual turnover exceeds 8 lakhs. A response clarifies that only dry cleaning services are explicitly taxable under Section 65(105)(zt) and that laundry services using water and ironing are not included. Another response notes that registration for service tax is required only if turnover exceeds 9 lakhs, suggesting traditional laundry services are not subject to service tax. (AI Summary)
